An ancient and mysterious standing stone in the middle of a field on the outskirts of Alloa. The harvest's in so I was able to get nearer than the last time I tried (shorts and jaggy nettles not an ideal combination), and today's stormy winds helped smear the cloud east towards the horizon. There's some evidence of carving on this face, and some excavation in the middle of the 19th century discovered human remains in a cist nearby, but little more seems to be know of its true origin. Most people passing along the main road a hundred or so yards north of this probably don't even notice it's there.
A torch, some wellies and a warm jacket and it'll be a good subject for some real night photography soon.
Ten stop ND filter. Three 2 minute exposure blended to create the final image.
